Introducing Community Interests for Lumen: Know What Your Community Actually Cares About
Lumen now tracks what your community does beyond cha; the games they play and music they listen to. See top games, breakout trends, live activity feeds, and member profiles with auto-generated tags like "FPS Player" or "Rock Lover". Pulled automatically from Discord Rich Presence, no setup required.
We just shipped Community Interests, a new way to understand what your community does beyond Discord chat.
The insight gap
You know what your members say. You track sentiment, topics, engagement. But you don't know what they actually do when they're not talking.
Which games are they playing? What music drives their vibe? What else competes for their attention?
That context matters. A community manager for a tactical shooter needs to know that 40% of their players also grind Valorant. A brand needs to know their community skews toward high-energy EDM for content decisions. An indie studio needs to see which games their early adopters bounce between.
What we built
Community Interests tracks gaming and music activity pulled directly from Discord Rich Presence. If your members share their Spotify or game status, Lumen captures it.
Top Games & Music
See which titles and tracks dominate your community. Ranked by players, sessions, and playtime. Genre breakdowns show whether you're an FPS community, a sim-racing hub, or a mix.
Breakout Trends
Spot what's surging week-over-week. New game releases, breakout artists, shifting tastes. See it before it shows up in chat.
Live Activity
Real-time feed of who's playing what and listening to what right now. Actual community pulse, not lagging indicators.
Member Profiles
Click any member to see their personal gaming and music DNA. Auto-tagged based on behavior: "FPS Player", "Rock Lover", "Hardcore Gamer". Helps you identify power users, content creators, and influencers faster.
Network Intelligence
See what's trending across all Lumen communities. Spot bigger shifts before they hit your Discord.
Why it's useful
Game studios: Understand player overlap with competitors. If 30% of your community also plays Apex, that's signal about what keeps them engaged.
Brands: Know what music genres and games align with your audience. Build content and partnerships that actually resonate.
Community operators: See the full picture. Chat sentiment + actual behavior = better decisions.
How it works
Data comes from Discord's Rich Presence - what members voluntarily share as their activity status. No extra setup. No API keys. If someone has "Display Spotify as status" or "Display game activity" enabled in Discord, Lumen captures it.
All data is aggregate-first. Community-level insights by default. Individual profiles are admin-gated.
Admins can disable activity tracking anytime in Settings. Privacy controls built in from day one.
Where to find it
Community Interests is live now as a new top-level section in Lumen. Music and Gaming tabs. Plus enhanced member profiles in User Health and new toggleable sections in Reports.
Data starts collecting immediately for all servers. No migration, no config.
Community Interests is available now in Lumen. Log in to explore what your community is really into.
